Yikes!
or
Several good reasons to have a home inspection.
The "hot" electrical conductors at this electric
service are exposed (red arrows).  Notice the
metal watch band (inside red box) that was
welded to the center conductor when
someone's arm got between the two wires.

You have to squeeze behind a dirty water
heater to see the disconnected furnace and
water heater flue pipe.  Lets hope that a third
cup of morning coffee is enough to clear the
homeowner's head of CO poisoning.
This jumbled mess is the caved-in foundation
wall under the rear part of a house.  We were
told a structural engineer had been out
several days earlier and said the foundation
was OK.
This is a photo of a gas leak at an old shut-off
valve.  It is not big enough to cause the house
to explode but it is allowing toxic gas to leak
into the house.
We looked under the cover of this floor drain
we could see that this opening is allowing
sewer gas into the house.  Not only is sewer
gas stinky, it can also be dangerous.
The shingles may look OK from the ground but
rubbing tree branches can cause serious
damage.  We were present during a rain storm
and somehow no leak was visible on the ceiling
below this area
